Now before I begin, I would like you to imagine a forest you’ve been to. Imagine the number of greeneries you see with the ferns and flowers, maybe the soil on the ground is being kicked around, or you might even see a couple of animals running around trying to find food. Now imagine a house like that, it would be something like Jumanji, well that’s basically my house except a lot more crowded with more animals to see.

My family has an addiction to caring for plants and making sure every living thing in the wilderness can have a home inside. We have a bad habit of collecting rare plants that could go for hundreds of dollars to smaller local plants around us. The addiction started with my mother who enjoyed gardening and being close with nature. She keeps chickens outside and will always accept a stray into our house. She basically taught all of us a way to keep animals and plants so that they can live a healthy and loving life. Now since she loved plants so much Mother’s Day at school was easy because I’d buy her the plants they sell and she’d love them, some are actually still alive 15 years later. However, my sisters have started growing out of my mothers view of plants to take care of and they’ve gone for Non-native plants. They’ve gone after some tropical plants all the way to some desert plants. One jungle plant would be the Bird of Paradise while the desert plant would be some cacti that we keep. Trying to keep both of these plants are difficult especially up North where neither can live without help.

Now the fun part about having all these plants was the way your animals act around them because they now feel like they’re in the jungle, especially the cats. When your black cat feels like a panther roaming the jungle when really, she’s just waiting near the front door for you to come in and give them food. I don’t recommend having as many animals as my family but, if you want the make the jungle feeling realistic get more than 7 animals. What made it feel most like a jungle was the Parrot we got; he added the icing on the cake to signify “we live in a jungle”. Even though I crack these jokes, I love having a lot of plants in my house and having to take care of them because there’s always something to do and it makes our house different and special. Being part of the Jungle is an experience and always an adventure not far from home.
